We have an immediate opening in our New York City office for an experienced Senior Analyst/Consultant working on Securities-related matters.
The qualified candidate will work independently within a team environment on client advisory projects and litigation casework related to quantitative financial and economic analysis across several industries and markets. Areas include the valuation of securities and other assets, assessing and calculating financial damages, and econometric modeling of financial and other related markets. Representative projects include analyzing damages, materiality, and causation in both securities fraud class actions and opt-out claims involving individual securities and funds; the impact of alleged accounting fraud on stock prices; class certification and market efficiency related issues in securities class actions; the effects of alleged insider trading on stock prices and tender offer premiums; damages and liability in derivative lawsuits; and valuation of financial assets.
Successful candidates may be responsible for executing projects, managing junior economists, and dealing with clients; creating quantitative analysis and performing quantitative assessments; applying knowledge of financial markets to solve complex business problems; preparing client memos, expert reports and testimony as needed, and presenting results in a clear and articulate manner to clients and team members.
Applicants applying for this position must have a Masters or Ph.D. in statistics, finance, economics, or a related field, with a strong background in financial and econometrics modeling. Three to five years of experience working in an investment bank, agency or consulting firm is preferred.
Possess a strong economics, finance, or commodities industry background and be comfortable performing quantitative analysis on complex and challenging business problems. Have solid understanding of financial markets, financial intermediaries, institutional investors, over-the-counter and exchange-traded derivatives, and other complex financial products.
Demonstrate excellent writing and presentation skills and be fluent in English. Be highly efficient using desktop tools such as Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint and adept at online research. Have capabilities with analytical software environments such as SAS, Fincad, Visual Basic, and C/C++.
The applicable base salary range for this role is $120,000 - $210,000 per year.
The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education,and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
