Our highly experienced teams thrive in critical situations where clients are looking to respond to external changes such as competitor dynamics or industry disruption. We help our clients to define and redefine strategy, plan and execute transformation, develop investment cases and business plans, and navigate complex merger integrations and carve-outs. We work with sovereign wealth and private equity funds, government ministries and bodies, and corporations across multiple industries including financial services and investment companies, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, industrials and manufacturing, and real estate and hospitality amongst others.
The Role
As a result of A&M’s significant growth in the Middle East, we are now looking for an Associate to work within the oil & gas industry sector. Individuals can be based in either our Dubai or Abu Dhabi offices and should have both oil & gas upstream and consulting experience.
Working with some of the brightest and most experienced colleagues in the industry, you will develop and implement forward-looking concepts and support clients in the context of strategy, pre- and post-deal support, performance improvement, transformation, and operational turnaround.

As an Associate, you will independently develop ideas and solutions to address the client’s issues and begin to own workstreams with oversight and support as and where required. As part of a team, you will be working closely with many experienced professionals who will provide you with developmental feedback and growth opportunities.
The key responsibilities of the role are:
- Conduct rapid diagnostics into companies’ strategy, market positioning, revenues, cost base, profitability and operations; this includes performing zero-defect data analysis and understanding results to examine the root cause of problems with moderate oversight from senior members
- Synthesize information and analysis into high-quality outputs and recommendations; this includes building models based on financial and/or operational data and requires strong knowledge of Excel (to analyze the data) and PowerPoint (to present the analyses)
- Maximize efficiency and proactively find solutions to increase productivity; employ the pareto principle on assigned deliverables to determine where to devote energy to optimize results
- Take ownership of tasks and generate viable solutions, with moderate oversight and guidance
- Understand and manage processes for assigned tasks, and meet assigned deadlines
- Build mid-level client relationships, and understand the needs of mid-level management in day-to-day interactions
- Support the team to identify a portfolio of high-impact opportunities across the enterprise, ranging from quick wins to the ‘tough calls’ which deliver transformational results
- Support Managing Directors and other senior members of the team with client pitch production
- Actively participate in firm-building committees and initiatives such as recruiting, learning and development, culture, marketing, and finance
The Requirements
You will be a high-energy individual with a mix of oil & gas industry and consulting experience. You must like new challenges and have a true desire to continuous growth. You will be able to demonstrate a record of success in delivering major performance improvement / transformation projects and will have a tight grasp on current industry trends and operational challenges. We would expect the successful candidate to bring:
- A high-grade bachelor’s degree (or equivalent/higher) from an accredited top-tier university in engineering, accounting, business, or a similar discipline
- Master’s degree from a top-tier university is preferable but not essential.
- Minimum of 1 years of prior full-time consulting experience or non-consulting professional services and industry work experience
- Experienced in resolving complex operational and financial problems including implementing cost reductions and operational improvements.
- Strong problem-solving skills and analytical skills, and deep dive analysis
- High integrity that is characterised by the ability to deliver messages even when they are difficult to hear.
- Fluency in English, both written and oral.
