Senior Associate, Financial Consulting - Business Interruption
The Business Loss Team is part of the Financial Investigations & Dispute Advisory Services (“FIDS”) group at RSM Canada and provides expert reports for business interruption insurance claims, expropriation matters, complex commercial litigation matters and forensic accounting services.
As a Senior Associate, you will be a key part of a growing team delivering loss quantification, business valuation and forensic accounting services to corporate clients, legal counsel, insurance companies, government entities and external consultants.
Duties include:
- Ability to perform in-depth analysis and quantitative modelling of financial statements and other key financial data for insurance claims, mediations, arbitration and litigation purposes
- Attention to detail with a natural aptitude for solving problems and performing in-depth research and analysis including gathering facts, conducting industry and market research, reviewing key financial metrics, understanding key business drivers and reviewing case law to identify relevant issues
- Reviewing, analyzing, compiling and organizing electronic documentation and assisting with document production for litigation purposes
- Assisting with the preparation of expert report narratives and other reports including deliverables such as document requests, critique reports, demonstrative tables, exhibits, charts and other data visualizations
- Ability to work independently and comfortable and capable of working as part of a team while balancing multiple projects with changing priorities and strictly imposed deadlines
- Contributing to proposals and assisting with business development activities to grow our practice including presentations, webinars, attending industry conferences, authorship of white papers, etc.
- Cultivating and maintaining positive, productive and professional relationships with colleagues and clients
- Flexibility to travel to client sites and other RSM offices (within Canada and the USA)
Qualifications:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner
- Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics or Economics from an accredited university
- Minimum +2 years of relevant professional experience, past experience in litigation support, business valuation, investigations, insurance claims, and forensic accounting services is a plus
- Knowledge of business interruption insurance policies, rules of civil procedures as it pertains to experts, the Expropriations Act and other relevant legislation and case law is a plus
- CPA, CBV, CFA, CFE designations or pursuit thereof is preferred, with a strong understanding of accounting fundamentals
- Strong organizational and time management skills with a desire to learn new skills
- The ideal candidate will be motivated to solve problems, exceed client expectations, with an aptitude for operating in a fast-paced work environment
- Advanced level skills in Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint and various general ledger systems such as QuickBooks is a plus

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
Compensation Range: $64,000 - $102,500
Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
