Ankura’s Construction Disputes & Advisory practice is seeking a Senior Associate to join our growing team of professionals in the Global Construction Practice. As a Senior Associate, you will join our growing team of professionals in the Construction Disputes & Advisory practice. You will be mentored to assist in the preparation of pre-dispute advice/opinion, litigation support, quantum expert witness claims assessment and testimony. You will be responsible for quantum claims investigations, management, and analysis, and support the appointed expert in preparing and presenting expert reports to clients, courts and tribunals.

Practice Overview
Our quantum experts are primarily involved in dispute resolution, litigation/arbitration support and expert witness testimony, construction work valuation, and damages analysis and claims assessment services.
Role Overview
We are looking for a 'rising star' to complement our talented team of Quantum experts. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic track record with significant relevant industry experience. Experience in performing analysis on dispute-related assignments would be an advantage.
This role entails operating in a fast-paced culture and will suit a candidate with the ambition and desire to grow and develop in the dispute's world. We provide the opportunity and training to support you in that endeavour, including excellent networking opportunities.
Under the direction of the quantum expert, you will be required to perform advanced research/investigations, management, and analysis in relation to construction disputes and assist in the preparation of high-quality quantum expert reports. The role will involve frequent client interaction, including preparing and presenting opinions and assessments. You will be part of a talented team of experts working on some of the APAC region's most complex and significant project disputes.
You will work from our Melbourne office. However, the APAC regional nature of our work means that successful candidates should be prepared to travel internationally, sometimes at short notice.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the analysis and assessment of claims and counterclaims in respect of work done/variations and damages/loss and expense arising from prolongation, disruption, defects and terminations.
- Assist the quantum expert in the preparation of high-quality expert reports on construction quantum matters in formal dispute, litigation or arbitration.
- Working with a team, assisting with the delivery of expert services in line with client briefs.
- Delivering tasks within specified time frames.
Requirements
We anticipate that the successful candidate will have a good academic record and be able to demonstrate how they have distinguished themselves within their chosen field. We require an individual with significant quantity surveying experience.
- Possess an existing visa entitling the applicant to work in Australia.
- Relevant quantity surveying experience at senior QS/senior consultant level working for a contractor, PQS firm and/or construction disputes consultant. Australian claims experience in the civil engineering, infrastructure, energy and/or resource sectors would be an advantage.
- BSc in quantity surveying (or equivalent) from a reputable university.
- A strong foundation in quantity surveying practice and quantum assessment principles.
- Professional membership of the RICS or AIQS (or in the process of qualification).
- A post graduate qualification in construction law (or similar) is desirable.
- Excellent English writing skills. Experience in drafting claims assessment/opinion reports would be an advantage.
- Excellent oral and verbal communications skills.
- Strong Excel and Word skills.
- Flexibility to travel both domestically and internationally.
