Your Impact

Our work is about coaching others to achieve success in implementing new approaches and delivering lasting outcomes.

You will have the opportunity to manage projects and progress with minimal supervision, including tracking metrics, handling complex analyses, and preparing communications to report back to client and internal leadership.

Additionally, you will develop practical recommendations and contribute to team discussions on implications of analysis; identifying implementation challenges.â€‹

You will act as an expert in capital strategy and portfolio optimization, project development and value improvement, as well as project delivery and construction processes in capital-intensive industries to help clients improve returns and program performance across the entire portfolio with a rigorous, holistic methodology enabled by digital and agile techniques.

As you collaborate directly with clients, you will help them solve problems, refine strategies, and implement transformations. By equipping them with the tools and knowledge to continue innovating and improving after weâ€™ve left, you will ensure the impact of our work endures. You will work in one of our North American offices with the McKinsey Implementation (MI) team â€“ a rapidly growing capability for our firm.

MI provides continuous, distinctive support to our clients to ensure they achieve and sustain the full benefits of McKinseyâ€™s recommended changes. Our implementation consultants are involved from strategy through execution with a disciplined eye on impact and sustainability at every stage of the project life cycle. We are developing a strong team and are looking for exceptional individuals to join us.

Your qualifications and skills

An advanced graduate degree (e.g., MBA, PhD, etc.) or equivalent work experience; requirements may vary by country or practice
6+ years of hands-on experience in a high-performance capital projects environment, specifically demonstrating leadership skills in performance improvement & change management
Significant experience working on mega capital excellence construction projects, project management experience is preferred
Field-based experience working on projects in one or more of the following industries: oil and gas, mining, energy, chemicals
In-depth knowledge of continuous improvement programs, i.e., Lean/Six Sigma is desirable
Strong interest and passion for coaching or mentoring clients
Excellent organization capabilities, including the ability to initiate tasks independently and see them through to completion
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in English and local office language(s), with the ability to adjust your style to suit different perspectives and seniority levels
Proficient in rational decision making based on data, facts, and logical reasoning
Ability to create work product-focused materials / outputs, which may include PowerPoint decks, Excel models, articles, or other written deliverables
Exceptional time management to meet your responsibilities in a complex and largely autonomous work environment
Ability to work or attend meetings outside of traditional business hours or take on projects with limited or no notice at times
Ability to travel up to 80% and work in varying environments that may be challenging and/or not accessible (e.g., factories, hospitals, mines)
