An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Analyst professional based in Buenos Aires to play a key role in the growth of the global industrial technologies research team. This position requires the candidate to help build our business practice by developing insightful strategic research, proactively supporting client engagements and some business development activities, and through involvement with team-building initiatives.
The Industrial Technologies division of Frost & Sullivan provides organisations with up-to-date market intelligence that enables our clients to take advantage of the rapid pace of technology and business model evolution in global industrial automation, process control and machines markets. Frost & Sullivan’s Industrial Technologies team provides clients with differentiated market intelligence that delivers both vendor and end-user insights used by enterprises around the world to make educated business decisions.
Responsibilities
- Domain Expertise – Become a thought leader in the industrial automation and process control team, delivering value via strategic research, client engagement, global press, and social media outreach.
- Intellectual Property and Strategic Evaluation – Develop actionable, strategic, insightful, up-to-date market intelligence based on primary and secondary market research on the technologies, and services that the industrial automation and machines industry sells to the enterprise market.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Business Development – Maintain business relationships with global automation and machines vendors by regularly participating in briefings with them and working under the guidance of colleagues to conduct business needs analysis for Frost & Sullivan clients.
- Consulting Engagement – Proactively contribute to industrial technologies consulting projects under the guidance of senior team members, demonstrate specialist knowledge in the industrial technologies industry, and utilise defined research and analytical practices in a team-focused environment.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have an educational background in business, market research, economics, journalism, or technology with an enthusiastic curiosity about the critical role industrial automation and machines plays in enabling business around the world. A proactive, methodical, and innovative – thinking outside the box – working practice is essential, with the ability to deliver accurate, high impact results in a fast-paced team-focused environment.
Essential
- A relevant university degree (BA, BS) in business marketing, market research, economics, journalism, or technology. OR a relevant university degree (BE in industrial engineering or any other engineering field.
- 1-3 years of experience in the industrial technologies industry is preferable
- The ability to research and write a coherent story in proper English about a topic is critical.
- A foundational understanding of consulting/research/investigative journalism methodologies and business modelling (primary/secondary research, coherent story development).
- A foundational understanding of the industrial automation, process control and machines industry, such as industry structure, operational practices, business functionalities, and competitive landscapes.
- Desire, curiosity, and enthusiasm to build your expertise in the industrial technologies domain to become a respected thought leader in the eyes of global industry vendors.
- The ability to network to create new vendor relationships and to proactively manage ongoing relationships to stay relevant to them.
- Enthusiasm for supporting business development initiatives that benefit the entire team.
- An analytical thought process, with outstanding written and verbal communication skills and business level fluency in English.
- The desire to learn public presentation skills in front of an audience and a video camera.
- Confident enough to present your work to a group of peers or a client and defend your analysis in a calm and professional manner.
- A team player who views team collaboration as an important path to professional development.
Desirable
- A foundational understanding of key industrial technology issues in one or more of the following areas:
- Industrial automation and process control
- Industrial Internet of things (IoT) issues and solutions
- Machines including – Pumps, valves, compressors; power transmission, rotating equipment such as motors and drives
- Sensors and instrumentation
