Job Description
As a Financial Crimes Senior Manager you will get the opportunity to grow and contribute to our clients' business needs by helping them identify and mitigate potential risks, address, resolve regulatory enforcement actions and help safeguard their organizations– all with the resources, environment, and support to help you excel. The Anti-Money Laundering and Regulatory Compliance Practice assist their clients in all aspects of AML, from customer on-boarding and Know Your Customer (KYC), transaction models and tuning, alert investigations and clearing, governance, policies, and procedures, to regulatory and board level reporting. Our services address the requirements of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), the USA PATRIOT Act (AML) and the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).

Your day-to-day may include:
- Perform engagement management responsibilities including performance reviews, task delegation, project scheduling, project financials, quality review, timelines, budgets, resource allocation and client management
- Lead and support business development activities, such as identification, proposal development and other pursuit activities at clients
- Maintain a good working relationship with clients and work effectively with client management and staff at all levels
- Work closely with Grant Thornton leadership and colleagues to promptly identify and resolve client issues
- Manage, develop, train, coach, staff on projects and assess performance for engagement and performance reviews
- Participate in recruiting activities such as interviewing campus and/or experienced candidates, providing interview feedback
- Lead as a subject matter expert internally and to clients in related risk management and compliance
- Demonstrate understanding of leading practices in risk and compliance for banking and/or financial products and services
- Develop solutions to regulatory challenges, including new and evolving requirements
- Design and implement business strategies and risk or compliance transformations for financial services institutions, financial holding companies and large complex banks
- Manage and direct the execution of multiple projects and medium to large engagement teams
- Provide technical support to clients regarding fair lending, vendor risk management and examination preparation
- Manage and minimize engagement risk by proactively identifying issues and recommended courses of remediation
- Research, analyze, and understand current marketplace issues and emerging regulatory requirements and guidance
- Participate in and speak at industry conferences, associations, trainings and maintain required certifications
- Identify and address client needs by building, maintaining, and utilizing networks of client relationships and industry involvement while communicating the value proposition of our services

You have the following technical skills and qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, MIS, or related field required, Advanced Degree is a plus
- Minimum 10 years of related work experience in a similar consulting practice or function servicing cross-industry clients at a national level
- CAMS, CAMS-Audit, CGSS, CRCM, ACFCS, CIA, PMP, CPA or similar license/certification required
- Examination experience or extensive knowledge with one or more of the following agencies (FRB, OCC, FDIC, FinCEN, or SIFMA) and/or ex-senior AML Officer from a nationally recognized institution
- Extensive experience working with and providing advice on KYC / AML and OFAC Sanctions programs
- Solid knowledge of 3 lines of defense
- Have substantial hands-on experience working in and leading three or more of the following areas:
- Independent reviews
- AML and OFAC risk assessments
- Customer risk rating model development
- Transaction model and OFAC filter model risk assessments
- Process improvement initiatives (KYC, FIU)
- Policy & procedure development
- Alert clearing and investigations
- Enforcement actions remediation
- Vendor solutions in KYC, Transaction Monitoring, Case Management or OFAC
- Excellent communication (verbal/written) skills particularly in report/proposal writing and preparing client presentations
- Proven ability to work with and manage teams on complex engagements
- Can travel as needed.
The base salary range for this position in the firm's Chicago, IL office is between $160,000 to $240,000.
