About The Role
We provide our clients with a comprehensive view of strategic communications that leverages our integrated suite of services, including financial communications, corporate reputation, transaction communications and public affairs in all the major markets around the world.
FTI Strategic Communications is currently looking for a Consultant to join our Crisis & Litigation practice in Washington D.C.
The Crisis & Litigation team supports clients in navigating complex, fast-moving situations through strategic communications. A successful Consultant is confident in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and brings precision, adaptability, and a strong attention to detail. Candidates must be able to build strong relationships with colleagues, adapt to varying work styles and remain open to diverse perspectives to enhance work processes, address client needs and contribute to firm development, as applicable. Some travel may be required.
What You'll Do
As a Consultant, you will play a key role in supporting team members in the development and execution of communications materials and strategies that help clients navigate high-velocity, multi-stakeholder crises. You will work closely with our professionals and senior leaders across FTI's Crisis & Litigation communications practice, spanning areas such as litigation, complex issues management, cybersecurity & data privacy, government investigations, employment issues, operational incidents and crisis preparedness. In this role, you will leverage communications strategies to reach an array of stakeholder groups (employees, customers, suppliers, regulators and other third parties), ensuring that client messages are delivered clearly and effectively throughout the lifecycle of a crisis. Through this work, you will gain the subject-matter knowledge and experience needed to successfully advise clients.
You will conduct research that informs client development and new business opportunities, help develop messaging and materials, and collaborate with colleagues across practice areas and geographies to holistically address client challenges. Consultants are expected to stay up-to-date on key issues and current events for clients, as well as broader business trends.
Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
Client Delivery
- Develop a basic understanding of each client's business, industry, and key stakeholders
- Stay up-to-date on key media trends and keep clients apprised of new developments
- Conduct thorough, accurate research to support client projects and deliverables, including succinct issue briefings for senior team leaders
- Support client teams to deliver high-quality work in a timely manner that aligns with business objectives
- Draft a range of client materials, such as internal communications, stakeholder messaging and presentations under the guidance of senior team members
- Partner with professionals and senior leaders to address client needs and concerns
Business Development
- Collaborate with colleagues and provide tactical support to team members as needed, including conducting research for and developing new business pitches, etc.
- Support the development of new service offerings that address emerging needs in the market
- Demonstrate a high level of integrity and proactively ask questions to ensure responsible management of firm and client data

Basic Qualifications
What You Will Need To Succeed
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
- 1 years of experience in communications and/or another related field (public relations, journalism, politics, business, etc.)
- Ability to work in the Washington D.C. office a minimum of three days each week
- Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills
- Excellent written and oral presentation skills
- The ability to multi-task (e.g., managing priorities between multiple client assignments)
- Ability to stay well organized, meet deadlines and manage time effectively
- Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to establish positive relationships with a wide variety of individuals
- Proficient skills in Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- A high level of integrity and sensitivity to confidential information
- Ability to travel to clients and to FTI office(s) as needed
