The Team
A&M has attracted top performers at every experience level. We are expanding the Sovereign Advisory Services (SAS) team in Dubai and are seeking talented, entrepreneurial people who are interested in developing their careers in the Sovereign Advisory space.
The SAS team is comprised of some of the most experienced professionals in sovereign advisory, central banking, SWF, and bank restructuring. The mission of A&M’s Sovereign Advisory Services is to help countries improve debt sustainability, increase access to capital markets, promote economic growth, and improve the efficiency of state-owned assets and how government deliver services to their citizens.
The Role
We are looking for an Associate to join our SAS team in the Dubai office, reporting directly to the Global Practice Leader of SAS. The Associate will undertake economic and financial modelling / analysis, work on sovereign finance topics, while also supporting the team with relevant data work and client pitching.
As an Associate, you will independently develop ideas and solutions to client needs. As part of the team, you will have the opportunity to take your career to the next level by gaining invaluable experience in the sovereign space by working closely with experienced professionals with a variety of backgrounds, within and outside of SAS. Examples of the types of tasks you would be expected to work on include:
- Gather relevant data and produce, analysis and presentations to clients and/or other members of the team in relation to relevant economic fundamentals, forecasts, news pieces, relevant papers and more for client work and/or pitches
- Build efficient excel models with the required outputs and scenarios for the benefit of transactions executed or for internal needs
- Assist in the production of published articles/ thought pieces to help reinforce A&M’s market position as a thought leader in sovereign advisory, central bank advisory, SOE and sovereign wealth fund advisory, and systemic bank restructuring
- Assist in internal processes and documentation requirements Examples of projects could include any of the following, also based on the background, capabilities, and preference of the recruit:
- Sovereign debt sustainability and financial advisory
- Debt management strategy
- Systemic bank restructuring
- Sovereign wealth fund advisory
- International public sector advisory
The Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of prior experience in sovereign advisory, consulting, or investment banking, gathered within a leading investment or corporate bank, rating agency, or consulting firm, ideally with a focus on public sector aspects
- Ability to perform insightful strategic and financial analysis
- Strong MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint skills. Experience with programming languages would be advantageous
- Well-developed communication skills and the ability to work with diverse and complex stakeholder groups
- Previous experience covering emerging markets preferred but not essential
- Fluent business‑level English is essential. Arabic is preferred; French is a plus but not mandatory
- Relevant bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, business, or similar. Master’s degree and/or additional relevant qualifications preferred but not essential
