Performance Practice
A&M’s Performance Practice in Canada partners with corporate and private equity clients to drive sustainable improvements in operational performance and maximize value from transactions. Our team is organized into three core service lines:
- Operational Due Diligence (ODD)
- Merger Integration & Carve-outs
The candidate may alternate between the Performance and CDD teams during the internship, based on the projects available at that time.
How you will contribute:
- Analyze datasetstoidentifyperformance gaps and improvement opportunities.
- Support cost transformation initiatives, process optimization, and strategic recommendations.
- Contribute to the creation of implementation roadmaps, operating models, and business cases.
- Conduct operational due diligence (ODD) for potential acquisitions, with a focus onidentifyingoperational risks, improvement opportunities, and value creation levers
- Support integration and separation planning for mergers, acquisitions, and carve-outs.
- Determinestandalone cost structures for carve-out entities, including recurring and one-time costs associated with separation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate diligence insights into actionable initiatives.
Commercial Due Diligence
A&M’s Transaction Advisory Group (TAG) provides private equity and corporate clients with buy- and sell-side commercial due diligence (CDD). As a CDD intern, you will actively engage in developing hypotheses, conducting detailed research and analysis, andparticipatingin comprehensive discussions with industry experts, management, and advisors.
The candidate may alternate between the Performance and CDD teams during the internship, based on the projects available at that time.
How you will contribute:
- Conduct in-depth market assessments by estimating market size andgrowth, andanalyzing competitive and regulatory landscapes.
- Synthesize customer insights from surveys, interviews, and other data sources to support commercial diligence and strategy projects.
- Develop client-ready presentations andreports, andprovide inputs on financial models and business performance analyses.
- Coordinate workstreams and deliverables across projects, ensuring alignment andtimelyprogress.
- Participate in client discussions and internal team meetings, gaining exposure to how A&M professionals deliver insights and recommendations.
- Support business development initiatives, including preparing pitch materials and contributing to proposals.
- Collaborate closely with senior colleagues in a high-performance, analytical, and team-oriented environment.
WhatWe’reLooking For
- Currently pursuing an MBA with a concentration in Strategy,Operations,Finance, or related field.
- Prior professional experience in management consulting,corporate strategy,privateequityor a related analytical role preferred.
- Highproficiencyin MS Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Think-Cell, Tableau, Power BI, or similar analytics/visualization tools (preferred).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills, with the ability to deliver in deadline-driven environments.
- Self-starter with curiosity and intellectual rigor, eager to learn and contribute in a fast-paced setting.
