The Team
A&M’s established European Financial & Operational Restructuring Advisory practice enables companies, investors and creditors in complex restructuring processes to evaluate the risks and opportunities of a company’s business plan and subsequently develop, negotiate and implement restructuring alternatives in order to maximize recovery.
How you will contribute
The successful candidate (m/f/d) will work on multi-stakeholder, multi-national and domestic restructuring advisory engagements delivering a combination of lead advisory and review work to clients.
Main responsibilities:
- Work with Managing Directors to deliver client projects, taking on the role of key engagement contact as and when required
- Advise stakeholders of companies facing financial difficulties, typically due to over- levered balance sheets
- Lead the design and development of client ready deliverables with minimal input
- Management of engagements and projects to scope time and budget
- Manage team members ensuring effective delegation and high standards of client deliverables
- Tasks can include: Initial diagnostic assessment of key issues and business outlook, appraisal of options and contingency planning, cash flow assessments and Independent Business Reviews, oversee capital structure modelling analysis performed by junior team members, liaise with clients in the formulation of negotiating positions (termsheets), liaise with legal advisers in the creation of implementable restructuring proposals and contingency planning alternatives, act as ‘daily point of contact’ for clients in matters of deal process management
- Contribute to business development activities including the creation of client pitches and proposals to win new mandates
- Build strong, trusted, long term relationships with key stakeholders in the German and European lending community through the delivery of value added client engagements
Qualifications
- Extensive experience within a Financial Restructuring team at a leading advisory firm (including Big 4 firms, investment banks and boutique advisory firms; additional alternative lenders / credit recovery fund experience will also be considered)
- Proven past experience with the German and commonly used cross-border restructuring frameworks (e.g. UK Schemes).
- The ability to demonstrate experience delivering financial restructuring projects including capital structure analysis and lender restructuring options analysis, Independent Business Reviews for corporates and lenders, short term cash flow assessments,
- Broad ranging experience in day-to-day management of complex restructuring engagements, including liaising with clients and legal advisers and being able to assess, drive and communicate progress on various transaction workstreams versus initial transaction timetables
- Demonstrated expertise of and aptitude with conducting quantitative and qualitative analyses, particularly with integrated financial models, analysis of financial under-performance and related services
- Fluent business level English and German is essential, other languages welcome.
