General Description:
The University of Tennessee Center for Industrial Services (CIS) is recruiting a Solutions Consultant (IPS Public Service Professional 2) to serve the Tennessee Manufacturing Extension Program (TN MEP) in the Chattanooga and greater Southeastern Tennessee Area (Region 6), which stretches from McMinn and Polk counties in the Eastern side of the region to Grundy and Marion counties on the western side of the region. TN MEP provides consulting and training services to help manufacturers and communities grow, succeed, and create high quality jobs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Solutions Consultant is responsible for CIS and TN MEP business development and economic outreach activities in the Southeast Tennessee area. Key responsibilities include cultivating manufacturing customers; developing and managing customer projects; consistently engaging clients to ensure long-term success and positive economic impact of delivered services; developing partnerships with professional associations and economic development organizations; and conducting marketing outreach along with some administrative duties.

Education:
This position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, or related discipline.
Experience:
This position requires a minimum of eight years’ experience in a manufacturing environment. Prior experience in manufacturing leadership roles, and/or industrial sales roles is preferred.
Skills:
The candidate must have an understanding of manufacturing, economic development and marketing trends; ability to effectively listen to customers, assess customer needs; and translate needs into appropriate action plans. The candidate must have strong business development skills and ability to effectively represent a broad range of CIS services to manufacturers, economic developers, and other partners. The candidate must have strong verbal and written communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel. The candidate must have strong presentation skills and computer skills (standard software packages, customer management software), problem solving skills, and project management skills. The candidate must be willing to travel extensively within the assigned Southeast Tennessee region, with occasional travel to other parts of the state and U.S.

Location:
This position is a MOBILE assignment serving manufacturers and partners specifically located in the Grundy, Marion, Bledsoe, Sequatchie, Hamilton, Rhea, Meigs, Bradley, McMinn, and Polkcounties of Tennessee.
