We are seeking a talented individual to join our Canadian Law & Tax Practice at Mercer. This role can be based in Toronto, Calgary, or Montreal, and is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
As the Legal Consultant, you will support Mercer consultants in delivering appropriate consulting services to clients regarding the legal aspects of registered pension plans, savings plans, and employee benefits.
We will count on you to:
- Manage projects of varying degrees of complexity and scope with respect to registered pension plans, savings plans, taxation and benefits
- Assist in developing pension, savings plans and employee benefit documents
- Collaborate with clients and their legal counsel to find practical solutions to matters relating to retirement savings arrangements and employee benefits
- Inform Mercer consultants and clients of legal developments and participate in training and professional development activities
- Demonstrate flexibility by working independently as well as in a team with Mercer legal and tax professionals and other Mercer consultants
What you need to have:
- JD or LL.B & called to the Bar
- 3+ years of experience in pension and employee benefit law, or has worked for a minimum of five years in a related legal field, and demonstrates a keen interest in pension and employee benefit law
- Relevant experience in taxation will be considered an asset
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
