We are growing our Forensic Advisory practice and the services we provide to our clients. This growth means we have an exciting career opportunity for a dynamic Associate, Forensic Advisory in Toronto. Our innovative group will provide a successful candidate with the opportunity to work with a dedicated team of professionals in an exciting and growing practice delivering forensic and investigative services to a wide range of clients.
You will be part of a team that provides the highest level of service to our clients and help us build our reputation as the preferred business advisors in our marketplace.
As an Associate, Forensics your responsibilities will include:
- Support Advisory team members, specifically in the area of Forensic Investigations and Litigation Support
- Conducting investigative research “OSINT” (open-source public record and commercial databases, online and telephone inquiry)
- Gathering and analysing key data on companies and individuals globally
- Reviewing the backgrounds of subjects for due diligence and client acceptance programs as well as for all types of investigation
- Utilizing computer database and other research tools including; Factiva, Lexis Nexis/ Quicklaw, Sayari, OneSource, Infomart, and many others
- Support in the gathering and provision of intelligence and information to investigators and forensic accountants on investigative assignments
- Utilizing data analytics and presentation tools including Idea, Tableau and others to analyse information and develop insightful deliverables for clients
- Interviewing and working with whistleblowers
- Writing reports on investigative findings Evaluating findings and providing recommendations to stakeholders
- Working with team members on data input, review and analysis projects
- Working on eDiscovery reviews for larger investigations
- Assisting with data analysis and log reviews in digital forensic investigations including cybersecurity incidents.
- Working with the team to assist in the administration of the investigative research practice
- Playing an active role in the implementation of our recommendations
- Contribute to new business development by understanding and identifying needs of our existing clients, and prospective clients through cross-functional interaction with other Doane Grant Thornton service lines
- Actively participate within the business unit and national service line, community and firm by contributing to the development and execution of the firm’s strategy and business plan

Think you’ve got what it takes to be an Associate, Forensics? Like the colour purple? Great. Here's a few more boxes we’re also hoping you can tick:
- Post-secondary degree in a relevant area (e.g., business management, commerce, accounting, information technology, etc.)
- Some initial experience in performing forensic reviews or audits and risk-based assessments (e.g., financial, operational, internal audit, IT, etc.) would be an asset
- Pursuing / Interested in relevant professional designations (CPA, CIA, CRMA, CISA, CFE, CISSP)
- Experience with public company and/or financial institution clients an asset
- IT audit, data analytics or IR experience also an asset but not required
- Ability to grasp new technology (i.e., software and tools, internal and external) is a must
- Inquisitive and investigative mindset
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Strong attention-to-detail, well-developed analytical and unstructured problem-solving skills
- Ability to think innovatively (i.e., outside of the box)
- Confident and team focused, able to interact well with peers and clients, and to rally resources and work with others to meet the needs of stakeholders; as well as work independently
- Project management experience is considered an asset
- Ability to work in a changing environment and to consistently achieve quality standards
- Ability to travel to client sites across Canada (approximately 25% travel throughout a year)
