This role is part of EY’s SAP practice, which helps clients unlock business value through integrated technology platforms. We offer capabilities in Supply Chain, FICO, BPC, Data & Analytics, Customer, Tech/Arch, and SuccessFactors to drive operational efficiency and performance.
The opportunity
We innovate with SAP to co-create more innovative answers, drawing on our integrated competencies in tax, assurance, transactions, and risk, as well as our work in implementing SAP. Together, we help clients provide better outcomes and long-lasting results, from strategy to execution.
As a Senior Manager in our Technology practice, you will play a pivotal role in interacting with business stakeholders to evaluate and analyze business models, processes, and operations. You will translate business requirements into technical specifications and ensure that newly implemented technology solutions meet these requirements. Your collaboration with technical teams will be crucial in designing and delivering effective system architecture solutions.
Your key responsibilities
In this role, you will manage and deliver complex processes and solutions while maintaining a strong focus on quality and risk management. You will face challenges that require innovative problem-solving and analytical skills, allowing you to grow your expertise in technology analysis and implementation. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading engagement delivery and managing client relationships on a daily basis.
- Overseeing program/project management and ensuring engagement economics are met.
- Developing resource plans and budgets for complex engagements.
- Consistently deliver quality client service. Monitor progress, manage risk and make sure key internal and external stakeholders/executives are kept informed about progress and expected outcomes.
- Demonstrate effective leadership and motivation strategies within teams encompassing diverse skills and backgrounds, providing actionable, constructive feedback, and coaching for team members and emerging professionals.
- Drive business growth by generating new opportunities, leveraging a deep understanding of EY and its service lines. Actively assess and present strategic solutions to serve clients while cultivating and managing business development opportunities.
- Establish and sustain long-term client relationships and networks, as well as fostering cohesive relationships with team members across all EY practices to effectively meet clients’ needs.
- Enhance client operations by optimizing end-to-end processes related to SAP Transportation Management (TM).
- Exhibit independent proficiency in configuring, designing, building, testing, and deploying the core S/4 Transportation Management solution, ensuring seamless integration with complementary solutions.
- Lead interactive workshops to guide critical design decisions, providing clear recommendations grounded in industry-leading practices.
- Demonstrate accountability for client solutions delivered, showcasing a hands-on ability to navigate all pertinent aspects of the SAP TM system environment.
- Collaborate with technical leaders to accurately estimate efforts for customizations and enhancements, effectively articulating the architectural needs for solutions beyond SAP, including interface work, extension capabilities, and cloud implications.
- Collaborate with project teams, team leaders, project delivery leads, and client stakeholders to develop and deliver exceptional, standout EY S/4 Transportation Management solutions.
Skills and attributes for success
To thrive in this role, you will need a blend of technical and interpersonal skills that will allow you to build strong relationships and deliver exceptional results.
On your typical engagement, you will work with key stakeholders to assess their needs and provide guidance on SAP system capabilities. You will lead requirement gathering, architect solutions, blueprinting, testing, and completing the workflow and documentation, as well as the functional design of the solution. Additionally, you will work with the stakeholders and the technical team to translate requirements into business solutions and manage configurations and integrations with both SAP and non-SAP systems. Key skills include:
- Strong technical skills in application functional design and technology business requirements definition.
- Proven ability to analyze and map technology cost-benefit scenarios.
- Expertise in system configuration design and business architecture frameworks.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
To qualify for the role, you must have
- A bachelor’s degree; a master’s degree is preferred.
- Typically, 9 years of relevant experience working with one or more SAP modules.
- Proven leadership skills and management experience, with a track record of at least two full-life cycle SAP TM implementations in the capacity of a workstream lead, engagement lead or Solution Architect.
- Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, client service and technical writing skills.
- Experience managing SAP projects or work streams, including overseeing project-based team members.
- Knowledge of leading practices, benchmarking, peer company environments and prior consulting experience relevant to industry-specific finance and technology functions.
- Ability and comfort-level researching client inquiries and emerging issues, including regulations, industry practices and new technologies.
- A willingness to travel to meet client needs; travel is estimated at 40-60%.
Ideally, you’ll also have
- Experience in leading teams and managing change effectively.
- Prior consulting experience.
- SAP certification(s)

- We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $171,600 to $392,100. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $205,900 to $445,700. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
- Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
