Within A&M, the Financial Services Industry Group (FSIG) partners with Financial Services organizations and private investors to drive results, create value and unlock business opportunities at every stage of their growth strategies. Based out of Hong Kong, North Asia FSIG delivers fact-based, evidence-based, decision-making and execution for Growth, Transformation, and M&A and Post Deal solutions that are enabled by technology and artificial intelligence. We work with Banks, Insurers, Wealth and Asset Managers, Private Equity Investors, and Sovereign Wealth Funds. Our people include seasoned strategists who are involved in large-scale transformation projects, including digital use cases across financial services institutions.
How you will contribute:
We are seeking an experienced Associate with 3-4 years’ experience in a top-tier management consulting firm who is looking to become involved in a “hands-on” team. We want a team player with an entrepreneurial mindset who can excel in a fast-paced environment that encourages working directly with Directors, Senior Directors, and Managing Directors.
The successful candidate will have demonstrable core consulting skills including but not exclusive to structured problem-solving, quantitative and qualitative analysis, financial acumen, market and competitive analysis, and project management skills. The successful candidate will have a mastery of PowerPoint and advanced proficiency in Excel. Experience working with Financial Services organisations including strategy engagements, transactions and deals, operations, change and transformation programs, or digital-focused initiatives is a plus.
Key Responsibilities for an Associate:
- Lead and manage workstreams within large, complex financial services client engagements
- Develop robust financial or operational models, to analyze business performance
- Rapidly synthesize research and analysis into clear and coherent recommendations to persuade and advise senior client leadership
- Manage day-to-day interactions with client counterparts and mentor junior team members.
- Contribute to business development through research and proposal creation.
- Manage expectations in the team with senior leadership and build trust through accountability.
Qualification:
- University degree with a Master/ Bachelor degree or above in accounting, data science, economics, finance, financial engineering, information technology, management, or related disciplines.
- 3-4 years of experience at a top-tier management consulting firm or in a relevant internal strategy / operations / corporate development role.
- Demonstrable track record in structured problem solving, financial analysis, and developing strategic recommendations.
- Exceptional command of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, including experience with data visualization tools.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior executives
- Demonstrated ability to manage workstreams independently and coach junior colleagues.
- Experience in one or more of the following service offerings in the financial services industry is a plus:
- Growth Strategy including revenue and pricing optimization, market entry analysis (specific Mainland China experience will be advantageous), and/or new business models.
- Distribution channel optimization, including partnerships and target operating model.
- Mergers and Acquisitions (E2E process) – e.g., Deal Strategy, Portfolio Review, Due-Diligence (including Operational or Tech), Synergy Assessment, and Post-merger Integration.
- Transformation exercises around cost, tech & ops modernization, and AI enabled operations.
- MBA from a top-tier institution will be advantageous, as well as progress toward or attainment of CFA
- Business proficiency in Cantonese or Mandarin will be advantageous.
