We are seeking a skilled Alation Data Catalog Specialist to join our data management team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for implementing, managing, and optimizing our Alation data catalog to ensure efficient data discovery, governance, and utilization across the organization. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, analytical skills, and strong communication abilities to collaborate with various stakeholders and drive data governance initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Alation Implementation And Management
- Lead the implementation and configuration of the Alation data catalog platform.
- Manage and maintain the Alation environment, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
- Develop and enforce best practices for data cataloging, metadata management, and data lineage.
Data Governance And Compliance
- Collaborate with data stewards, data owners, and business users to define and enforce data governance policies and standards.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and internal data governance policies.
- Monitor and report on data quality metrics and governance KPIs.
Data Integration And Management
- Integrate Alation with various data sources, databases, and BI tools.
- Develop and maintain data integration workflows and processes.
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date metadata and data lineage information.
User Training And Support
- Provide training and support to end-users on how to effectively use the Alation data catalog.
- Create and maintain user documentation, training materials, and best practice guides.
- Assist users in data discovery, analysis, and reporting tasks.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities for improving data catalog functionality and user experience.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest Alation features, updates, and industry best practices.

Artificial Intelligence & Data Engineering

The Artificial Intelligence & Data Engineering team leverages the power of data, analytics, robotics, science and cognitive technologies to uncover hidden relationships from vast troves of data, generate insights, and inform decision-making. Together with the Strategy practice, our Strategy & Analytics portfolio helps clients transform their business by architecting organizational intelligence programs and differentiated strategies to win in their chosen markets.
Artificial Intelligence & Data Engineering will work with our clients to:
- Implement large-scale data ecosystems including data management, governance and the integration of structured and unstructured data to generate insights leveraging cloud-based platforms
- Leverage automation, cognitive and science-based techniques to manage data, predict scenarios and prescribe actions
- Drive operational efficiency by maintaining their data ecosystems, sourcing analytics expertise and providing As-a-Service offerings for continuous insights and improvements
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.
- 4+ years of experience in data management, data governance, or a related field.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience with Alation or similar data catalog tools.
- 2 years of experience with BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Qlik) and cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- 2 years of experience with various database systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
- Proficient in SQL and familiarity with ETL tools and data integration processes.
- Basic understanding of programming languages (e.g., Python, Java).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret and analyze data to generate insights and recommendations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
- Ability to travel 10%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve. This may include overnight travel.
- Must be able to obtain the required level of security clearance for this role
- Must live in a commutable distance (approximately 100-mile radius) to one of the following Delivery locations: Atlanta, GA; Charlotte, NC; Dallas, TX; Gilbert, AZ; Houston, TX; Lake Mary, FL; Mechanicsburg, PA; Philadelphia, PA with the ability to commute to assigned location for the day, without the need for overnight accommodations
- Expectation to co-locate in your designated Delivery location up to 30% of the time based on business needs. This may include a maximum of 10% overnight client/project travel
