The Opportunity
Develop strategy for Australia’s leading multi-family office working one on one with the Head of Strategy. We're looking for a current or ex-consultant with 2-3 years’ experience in the strategy team of the Big 4, a top tier consulting firm, or a boutique spin-off. The role is ideal for someone who combines a conceptually creative and analytical mind with outstanding structured problem-solving skills and strong written and verbal communication. The role provides the opportunity for multiple career paths beyond the strategy team and regular exposure to the Leadership Team. This is a rare opportunity to join an exclusive but fast growing sector serving Australia’s wealthiest families, enabling them to have a disproportionately positive impact on the Australian economy. Bring your consulting skills to bear in a way that has real intergenerational impact.
What You’ll Do
Reporting to the Head of Strategy, you will support the development of strategy that drives competitive advantage for the organisation. Specifically:
- Research and development of the firm’s next 5 years corporate strategy working closely with partner level business leaders.
- Research and development of service line and client segment strategies in conjunction with the business.
- Assist business leaders with implementation planning and guidance in executing the strategies, as required.
You have
- Similar experience in a Big 4, top-tier consulting firm or boutique spin-off with solid training in research, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and hypothesis driven structured problem-solving.
- Demonstrated ability to produce compelling insights from analytical packs using logical structure and data-driven approaches.
- Strong capability in independently managing senior-level stakeholder interactions.
- Flexibility to travel between Sydney and Melbourne. You will be based in Melbourne at the Mutual Trust Head office while the Head of Strategy is based in Sydney.
- Ability to navigate complex organisational structures and independently influence senior management.
- Proven track record of working autonomously but with guidance on complex projects, coupled with a willingness to collaborate on joint problem-solving initiatives.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate and defend strategic insights and recommendations.
- Experience running problem solving and design workshops.
- The consulting work and client service ethic and a desire to have impact through others.
Culture & Benefits
This role offers:
- An introduction to the sought after family office sector, working for the leader in the sector with 4 offices nationally.
- The ability for your work to impact the entire firm and several hundred client families.
- The opportunity to hone and develop your strategy skills, see the strategy implemented and achieve results.
- Exposure to multiple services lines providing avenues for future career development, including Wealth Management, Family Office, Tax, Trustee, Philanthropy, Agri-services, Accounting and Compliance.
- A boutique professional services culture with institutional grade capabilities and a purpose-driven family oriented atmosphere.
- The opportunity to work one on one with an ex-McKinsey strategy practitioner with decades of consulting experience who is a member of the Leadership Team.
Joining Mutual Trust offers you the opportunity to enjoy
- Supportive flexible work arrangements.
- Opportunity to purchase up to four weeks additional leave each year.
- Recognised as an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality (Workplace Gender Equality Agency).
- Professional training and development for staff of all levels.
- Yearly health and well-being allowance and ongoing activities.
- Work with industry experts in highly specialised roles.
- Employee assistance program that offers free counselling and support for you and your family.
- Annual performance payment (based on your performance and Firm-wide results).
- Paid community/volunteer days and an award-winning staff giving program.
- Reward and Recognition program.
- Ongoing staff entertainment.
